This policy applies to all learners enrolled with Academus Training Institute and all staff involved in enrolment, training delivery, assessment, learner support, administration and compliance.

Policy Statement
Academus Training Institute is committed to supporting learners throughout their training. Learner support is provided in a fair, respectful and practical manner, while maintaining the integrity and requirements of the training product.
Support needs may be identified before enrolment, during orientation, throughout training, during assessment, or through learner self-referral. Where support needs are identified, Academus Training Institute will take reasonable steps to provide assistance, guidance, adjustments or referrals where appropriate.
Support will be provided in a way that does not compromise assessment validity, reliability, fairness or competency requirements.
Orientation
All learners are provided with orientation information before or at the commencement of training. Orientation may include information about:
- Course structure and timetable
- Attendance and participation expectations
- Assessment requirements
- Student rights and responsibilities
- Code of conduct
- Complaints and appeals process
- Available support services
- Trainer and administration contact details
- Workplace health and safety requirements
- Emergency procedures
- Facilities and learning resources
- Reasonable adjustment options where applicable
Support Services
Academus Training Institute may provide or facilitate access to the following support services:
Academic Support
Trainer guidance, additional explanation, supervised practice, learning resources and study support.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Support
LLND review where required, reading support, oral clarification, additional guidance and referral where appropriate.
Assessment Support
Explanation of assessment requirements, reasonable adjustment where suitable, feedback and reassessment opportunities in accordance with policy.
Personal Support
General welfare support, referral to external services where required and confidential discussion with appropriate staff.
Disability and Accessibility Support
Reasonable adjustments, accessibility support and individual consideration where required.
Career and Pathway Advice
Information about employment outcomes, licensing pathways, further study options and industry expectations.
Health and Wellbeing Information
General wellbeing guidance and referral to appropriate external support services where necessary.
Identifying Learners Requiring Support
Academus Training Institute may identify learners requiring additional support through:
- Pre-enrolment discussions
- LLND assessment or pre-training review
- Orientation discussions
- Trainer observation
- Learner self-disclosure or self-referral
- Attendance or participation concerns
- Assessment performance
- Behavioural or wellbeing concerns
- Repeated difficulty understanding course content
- Requests for reasonable adjustment
Reasonable Adjustment
Academus Training Institute may provide reasonable adjustment to support learners with individual needs, provided the adjustment does not compromise the required competency outcome.
- Additional time where appropriate
- Oral clarification of assessment instructions
- Use of plain language explanation
- Additional trainer guidance
- Flexible assessment arrangements

Supporting Learners at Risk
A learner may be considered at risk where they are experiencing difficulty with attendance, participation, assessment completion, learning progress or personal circumstances that may affect their ability to complete the course.

Roles and Responsibilities

Records and Confidentiality
Academus Training Institute will maintain records of learner support where required. These records may include:
- LLND or pre-training review outcomes
