1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to outline how Academus Training Institute delivers nationally recognised training to domestic students in a structured, compliant, industry-relevant and student-focused manner.
This policy ensures that training delivery is planned, resourced, monitored and continuously improved so that students are provided with a fair and reasonable opportunity to develop the required skills and knowledge before assessment.
Academus Training Institute recognises that quality training delivery is not limited to presenting learning content. It includes effective planning, qualified trainers, appropriate resources, sufficient practice opportunities, learner support, accurate records, industry relevance, and ongoing monitoring of student progress.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all domestic students enrolled or intending to enrol with Academus Training Institute.
It applies to all staff involved in training planning, delivery, student support, administration, compliance and management, including:
- CEO and senior management
- Training Manager
- Trainers and assessors
- Student support staff
- Administration staff
- Compliance staff
- Any approved third-party or contracted personnel involved in training delivery
This policy applies to all nationally recognised training products delivered by Academus Training Institute within its scope of registration.
This policy does not apply to international student delivery, CRICOS delivery, or overseas student arrangements.
3. Policy Statement
Academus Training Institute is committed to delivering training that is compliant, professional, inclusive and aligned with industry and regulatory expectations.
Training delivery must be based on the approved Training and Assessment Strategy and must provide students with sufficient training, guidance, practice and support before assessment is conducted.
Academus Training Institute will ensure that training delivery:
- Is consistent with the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course.
- Is delivered only for training products listed on the RTO’s approved scope of registration.
- Is supported by a current and approved Training and Assessment Strategy.
- Is delivered by qualified trainers and assessors with current vocational competency, industry currency and training and assessment competency.
- Uses appropriate facilities, equipment, learning materials and practical resources.
- Provides students with sufficient supervised training and practice before assessment.
- Reflects current workplace practice and industry expectations.
- Identifies and supports students who may be at risk of not progressing.
- Maintains accurate attendance, participation and training delivery records.
- Is reviewed and improved through feedback, monitoring, validation and continuous improvement processes.
4. Domestic Student Delivery
Academus Training Institute delivers training under this policy to domestic students only.
Domestic students may include Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, eligible New Zealand citizens, and other persons with appropriate rights to study in Australia, where applicable to the course requirements.
Students must be provided with clear information before and during training, including:
- Course requirements
- Entry requirements
- Attendance expectations
- Training duration
- Delivery mode
- Assessment requirements
- Student support options
- Fees and refund information
- Complaints and appeals processes
- Certification requirements
- Licensing or regulatory requirements, where applicable
5. Training and Assessment Strategy
A Training and Assessment Strategy must be developed, approved and maintained for each training product delivered by Academus Training Institute.
The Training and Assessment Strategy must describe how training and assessment will be delivered and must include, where applicable:
- Training product code and title
- Target learner cohort
- Entry requirements
- Course duration
- Volume of learning
- Delivery mode
- Training schedule
- Assessment methods
- Required facilities and equipment
- Learning and assessment resources
- Trainer and assessor requirements
- Student support arrangements
- Work placement or practical placement requirements, where applicable
- Licensing or regulatory requirements, where applicable
- Industry consultation and feedback
- Arrangements for recognition of prior learning and credit transfer
Training must be delivered in accordance with the approved Training and Assessment Strategy.
6. Training Delivery Planning
Before training commences, Academus Training Institute must ensure that:
- The training product is on the RTO’s scope of registration.
- A current Training and Assessment Strategy has been approved.
- Course information has been provided to students.
- Entry requirements have been checked.
- Trainers and assessors have been allocated.
- Training rooms and facilities are available.
- Required learning materials are available.
- Required equipment and practical resources are available.
- Student support needs have been considered.
- Attendance and delivery records are ready for use.
- Relevant regulatory or licensing requirements have been addressed.
7. Delivery Modes
Academus Training Institute may use one or more approved delivery modes depending on the training product, learner cohort and course requirements.
- Face-to-face classroom delivery
- Practical skills training
- Simulated workplace activities
- Workplace-based training, where appropriate
- Online learning, where suitable and approved
- Blended delivery
- Self-paced learning supported by trainer guidance
- Structured group learning activities
8. Training Delivery Requirements
Training delivery must be structured, clear and appropriate to the needs of students.
Trainers must ensure that students are given:
- Clear explanation of learning objectives
- Access to learning materials
- Demonstrations where practical skills are required
- Opportunities to ask questions
- Opportunities to practise skills
- Guidance and feedback during training
- Information about assessment requirements
- Support where learning difficulties are identified
- Safe and respectful learning conditions
9. Trainer and Assessor Requirements
Training must be delivered by trainers and assessors who meet the requirements of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and the relevant training product.
- Required training and assessment credentials
- Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered
- Current industry skills relevant to the training product
- Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning
- Any licensing, approval or regulatory requirements applicable to the course
10. Trainer Responsibilities
- Prepare for training before each session.
- Follow the approved Training and Assessment Strategy.
- Follow approved session plans or delivery schedules.
- Use current and approved learning resources.
- Contextualise delivery to suit the course and student cohort.
- Maintain student attendance records.
- Monitor student participation and progress.
- Provide feedback and guidance during training.
- Identify students who may require additional support.
- Report student concerns to the Training Manager or support staff.
- Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Report resource, facility or delivery issues promptly.
- Keep training and assessment records accurate and complete.
- Avoid making unauthorised changes to course structure, timing, assessment requirements or delivery arrangements.
11. Student Attendance and Participation
Students are expected to attend scheduled training sessions and actively participate in learning activities.
Attendance records may include:
- Class attendance registers
- Sign-in sheets
- Trainer notes
- Online attendance records
- Practical activity records
- Catch-up session records, where applicable
12. Student Progress Monitoring
Academus Training Institute will monitor student progress throughout training.
Progress monitoring may include:
- Attendance review
- Participation in class activities
- Completion of learning tasks
- Trainer observation
- Practical activity performance
- Student questions and engagement
- Readiness for assessment
- Assessment outcomes
- Support referrals
13. Student Support During Training
Support may include:
- Additional explanation of learning content
- Trainer guidance and feedback
- Reasonable adjustment, where appropriate
- Additional supervised practice
- LLND support strategies
- Referral to student support staff
- Referral to external support services, where appropriate
- Flexible training support, where suitable
- Catch-up training, where approved
- One-on-one clarification, where reasonable and available
14. Learning Resources and Training Materials
Academus Training Institute must ensure that students have access to suitable learning resources for their course.
Learning resources must be current, accurate, appropriate and accessible.
- Learner guides
- Presentation materials
- Practical activity instructions
- Case studies
- Workplace documents
- Simulated workplace materials
- Legislation or regulatory guidance
- Equipment manuals
- Online resources
- Trainer-developed support materials
15. Facilities and Equipment
- Safe and appropriate for the training activity.
- Available before training commences.
- Sufficient for the number of students.
- Suitable for practical training and simulation, where required.
- Maintained in working order.
- Compliant with relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
- Appropriate to the training product and assessment conditions.
16. Workplace Health and Safety
Academus Training Institute has a duty to provide a safe learning environment.
Trainers must ensure that students are informed of relevant safety requirements before practical activities commence.
Students must follow all safety instructions, use equipment appropriately, and report hazards, incidents or injuries.
17. Reasonable Adjustment
Reasonable adjustment may be provided to support students with individual learning needs, provided the adjustment does not compromise the required competency standard.
Reasonable adjustment may include:
- Additional time for learning activities
- Oral clarification of instructions
- Additional trainer explanation
- Modified learning materials
- Use of assistive technology
- Adjusted delivery method
- Additional supervised practice
- Suitable support arrangements

Records may include:

19. Delivery Compliance
Training delivery must comply with:

- Academus Training Institute policies and procedures
20. Third-Party or Contracted Delivery
Where any third-party or contracted person is involved in training delivery, Academus Training Institute remains responsible for the quality and compliance of training delivery.
- Training is delivered according to the approved Training and Assessment Strategy.
- Trainers meet required competency and currency requirements.
- Students receive appropriate support.
- Records are maintained accurately.
- Compliance obligations are met.
- Any issues are reported and addressed.
21. Monitoring and Quality Assurance
Monitoring may include:
- Review of attendance records
- Review of training delivery records
- Trainer observations
- Student feedback surveys
- Informal student feedback

23. Roles and Responsibilities

This policy will be reviewed annually or earlier where required due to changes in standards, training package requirements, scope of registration, licensing or regulatory requirements, delivery arrangements, student cohort needs, internal audit findings or continuous improvement outcomes.
